It is a well-known fact that race plays a significant role in politics and policy-making in the United States. One way in which this is evident is in the way that white Americans often vote against their own interests in an effort to maintain segregation and racial hierarchy. This can be seen in the support for policies and politicians that do not align with the interests or way of life of many white Americans.
